Your energy, your sleep and your weight are the same problem.

Low energy by 3 PM. Sleep that doesn't fix it. Recovery that takes days. Weight that won't move. Most people treat those as four separate problems. They usually come from the same place, your daily inputs. Food front and center, along with when you eat it. I find the one that's breaking first and fix that, in the life you've actually got.

Pick the one that sounds like you.

We sort out which way in fits on the call. That includes how much of me you get.

01

Nutrition

Food that happens instead of food that's planned. Restaurants, travel, nine o'clock dinners, no time to weigh rice on a Tuesday. Protein first, then timing, then the rest. Built around how you actually eat, and we stop tracking as soon as you don't need to.

02

Energy & Sleep

Crashing at 3 PM, waking at 3 AM, coffee doing less every year. The sleep and the energy are the same system. We look at when you eat, when the caffeine stops, and what the evening looks like. The first week usually shows which one's the problem, and we start there.

03

Stress & Winding Down

Wired at night, flat in the morning, a week that never really lets up. A lot of what feeds that is how the day is set up. Caffeine, when you eat, how hard you're training, what the evening looks like. We start there and see what changes. I can't say how much it moves for you.

04

Training & Body Composition

Weight that won't move, or moves and comes back. Training you keep restarting. A sore knee or shoulder that plans your week for you. We build the training around your calendar and what's bothering you, and get the food in order so the work pays off.

Same inputs behind every one of them. That's why fixing them one at a time never held.

A lot of people come to me thinking this is a fitness thing. Fair. It was for me. I wanted abs. What I found was that the food and the timing also run everything else. Training's still part of it. But it's the inputs that make the training, the energy and the weight actually hold.

I fix the inputs. Then the work starts holding.

Most people over the age of 35 aren't failing at discipline. They're running on a system that stopped resetting years ago. Short sleep. Food that happens instead of food that's planned. Training that starts every January and stops every February. A back or a knee or a shoulder that decides how the week goes.

Nothing sticks on top of that, and it isn't a character problem. It's an order problem. You can't build capacity on a base that never settles.

So I start underneath. Food, stimulation, recovery, sleep, load, the inputs. In the conditions you've actually got. Not the conditions a program wishes you had.

Foundation → Regulation → Stability → Capacity → Performance

That sequence is the same whether you work with me for two weeks or a year. What changes is how far down it we get.

Lou in the gym

Who I am and why you’d listen to me.

I used to weigh 240 pounds and drove a truck full time. I lost about 50 pounds and left the truck, built a following on social media, and kept burning through my nervous system to keep up with it all. I didn’t understand what was happening to me at the time. Then I got certified in nutrition, and they don’t teach you how the nervous system works or how to regulate it, so I did the research myself.

Along the way people with autoimmune symptoms started coming to me and saying the same thing: Lou, all my numbers are going the right direction, I don’t know what you’re doing but it’s helping. I kept studying. What I learned is that food and timing matter most.

Think about a bodybuilder before a show. They stress their nervous system so hard they look flat, and the second the food goes in they look the best they ever will. That’s exactly how your body works. Put the right sources in at the right time and that’s when you feel your best, your energy comes back, your sleep improves. Stress is about regulating and stabilizing, and that’s food’s job.

I’m a trainer and a certified nutrition specialist. If your energy, sleep or body composition is off, that’s what we work on.

Whichever way in we land on, this part doesn't change.

It's built around your week, not an ideal one. I ask what your days actually look like before I write anything. If it doesn't fit the life you've got, it isn't a plan, it's a wish.
It's built around what hurts. If your knee or your shoulder or your back has an opinion, I need to know before I write anything. On the training side that means every lift carries an alternative, so you work around it instead of stopping. On the food side it means we look at whether the eating is making it worse.
How much of me you get is part of the choice. Some ways in have me in your week. Some hand you the plan and you run it. We'll be straight about which is which on the call, before you pick.
If I'm in it with you, it changes as you change. We look at what actually happened, not what was supposed to happen, and we adjust. If you took a plan to run yourself, that's the trade. You get the plan and you run it.
The goal is you not needing me. I'm trying to teach you to run it yourself. That's the whole job.
The Athlete's Promise, on the twelve-week program

I don't get paid for your time. I get paid for your result. If in twelve weeks your system hasn't stabilized and your first bottleneck hasn't moved, we keep going until it does, at no extra cost.

Who this is for. Who it isn't.

Coaching for a body that's been around a while, and a life that isn't going to change. I'd rather say this up front than find out on the call.

I'm an ACE Certified Nutrition Specialist and an ACE Certified Health Coach. Anything clinical is a doctor's or a therapist's job. I work on the daily inputs.

For

  • Thirty five and up, give or take
  • Used to be in shape, or never got the chance to be
  • Carrying something that talks: a back, a knee, a shoulder, a hip
  • A schedule that isn't going to bend for this
  • Done starting over every Monday
  • Wants someone in it with them, not a course

Not for

  • Looking for a shortcut or a quick fix
  • Wants motivation rather than a plan
  • Not willing to look at the sleep and the food honestly
  • Wants somebody to do it for them
  • Not going to do the thing once it is written

Start with a call.

You tell me what's going on, I tell you straight which of these fits and whether it's the right time. If none of it is, I'll say that too, and you'll still leave knowing what I'd do in your position.
